Summary
[edit]DescriptionNewcastle Anglican Cathedral on 21 April 2023 (82).JPG |
The pulpit in St Nicholas Anglican Cathedral, or Newcastle Cathedral, in Newcastle upon Tyne, Tyne and Wear, England. It features figures of John the Baptist and saints Peter, Paul, Barnabas and Philip. It was carved around 1882 by Robert Beall (1835–1892) of Newcastle, to the design of architect Robert James Johnson (1832–1892). Note that this is the last figure on the right, in the arrangement of saints. It is hidden in a dark corner between the pulpit and a large stone pier (church pillar). It is difficult to photograph without flash (on-camera flash is not used here because it takes away the 2-D quality), so it is blurred. It has been uploaded so that you can see the general shape of the figure, and will be replaced when we can get a better photo. |
