OR RED AUGUSTA VICTORIA
T
.HIS is a splendid new hardy constant blooming rose that every lover of beautiful roses must
have as soon as known, it is fully as large and almost as beautiful as the famous American
Beauty, and nnich more hardy and productive. The bush is a strong healthy grower, and
a constant and abundant bloomer, every shoot producing a flower, it has thick leathery foliage
and is remarkably free from all forms of leaf blight and rust. The flowers are of largest size,
and fully double, seldom showing the centre. The color is brilliant carmine red, exquisitely shaded
with rich orange scarlet, very bright and beautiful, and delightfully sweet. It makes splendid
large elegantly formed buds, is quite hardy, and in every way entitled to a place among our most
showy and handsome ever-blooming roses, suitable both for garden planting and house culture.

This tag is designed for use where there may be a need to assert that any enhancements (eg brightness, contrast, colour-matching, sharpening) are in themselves insufficiently creative to generate a new copyright. It can be used where it is unknown whether any enhancements have been made, as well as when the enhancements are clear but insufficient. For known raw unenhanced scans you can use an appropriate {{PD-old}} tag instead. For usage, see Commons:When to use the PD-scan tag.

Note: This tag applies to scans and photocopies only. For photographs of public domain originals taken from afar, {{PD-Art}} may be applicable. See Commons:When to use the PD-Art tag.
