English: PATROL BASE FAHEEM, Helmand province, Afghanistan - Lance Cpl. Gregor M. Phillips, a designated marksman for 3rd Platoon, Company B, 1st Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, provides rooftop security for a forward patrol base after a grenade was lobbed over the compound wall at the Marines operating in Sangin, Afghanistan, June 26. The Marines of 3rd Platoon maintain a forward patrol base to limit the enemy’s movement and provide a presence in the area. Phillips is also the point man for his squad and provides security for the improvised explosive device sweeper. Phillips, 22, is from Lancaster, Pa., and graduated from Pequea Valley High School in 2006. |
