English: New Tesco superstore - pedestrian entrance/exit From carpark, leading to Norwich Road. The new Tesco superstore located opposite Aylsham station opened end of July. See also > 761229 and 943836.
Tesco claimed to be planning to build the "greenest store in the world" at Aylsham: proposing to follow two model energy stores that already exist, the construction was to be built from wood, recyclable plastic and other sustainable materials, and was supposed to use less energy than similar stores by using clear roofs to maximise natural light, wind turbines to power the tills and cold air from chilled areas for air conditioning. These plans appear not to have materialised. The scheme involved building a new layout including traffic islands for Norwich Road. |
