Summary

[edit]
Description This was the old paddle wheel steamship which operated at the NSP in the late Qing Dynasty, supposedly as a training vessel, but mostly to tow barges of Qing officials around the lake. The New Summer Palace was rebuilt after destruction by Western armies, using funds that had been set aside for building a modern navy for China. The navy never got built, but there was a certain pretend nauticality to the NSP.
