Summary
[edit]DescriptionNew Passage Pier railway station (site), Gloucestershire (geograph 6975043).jpg |
English: New Passage Pier railway station (site), Gloucestershire Opened in 1863 by the Bristol & South Wales Union Railway, later part of the Great Western Railway, this 500m long railway-carrying pier took trains out to waiting ferries that plied to and from Portskewett, for onward train connections to Cardiff etc. It closed at the same time as the Severn rail tunnel opened, in 1886, and was quickly dismantled. Today only this stub remains. View north west towards Portskewett. Immediately behind the camera position was New Passage railway station which opened and closed on the same dates as the pier station. |
