his same princi-ple of progress is seen in medicine. Millions are now studyingthese things, who once did not trouble themselves with them,Millions more are beginning to inquire. This is not the age for mineral poisons, nor any other. Whatis the difference between the present and the past age ? In theformer, the physician studied the laws of health : in the latter, thepeople do this. Then the physician only was expected to under-stand the human system ; now the school boy of 10 is pouringover his physiology. Yes, a great change has already taken place.In such a change we rejoice. We call for a reform in the medicalworld, and we will have it. The people are rising in the majestyand dignity of reasonable beings ; and a reform will be the result.Among the various means in bringing about this long looked fopchange, we hail with sincere gratitude to God the establishment ofthe Worcester Medical Institution, May the smiles of Heavenrest upon it. (Worcester Medical Institution.) € bite rial. DR. A. CURTIS. In the March No. of the Physo-medical Recorder, published atCincinnati, Ohio, there is an article written by Dr. A. Curtis,, andheaded, Professor Newton on Professional Changes, which, forits unfairness and untruthfulness is only equalled by some of thesame individuals private letters to ourselves. Often, of late, hashis course reminded us of the old heathen adage, Whom the godswish to destroy they first make mad. The doctor seems bent,even to insanity, on abusing every one who chooses to advocate ahigher and more scientific professional course than is consistentwith his being acknowledged as the great oracle in medical mattersin this country. In his history, we have not the first illustration of the fact, that,when a man has once fallen from the exercise of high-toned mor-ality, it is altogether uncertain at what point his course will finallybe arrested. We are sometimes forbidden to sit in judgment on a mans mo-tives. We
