This is the head of the Cocora Valley, a cirque, which has been carved into a deep half-open bowl shape by former glaciers.
These mountains are the Peñas de Caracoli ("Snail Rocks"), situated approximately 2 kilometers to the north of the Nevado del Quindío complex. They have elevations between 4500 and 4600 meters.
This is the Complejo Volcánico Cerro España ("Mount Spain Volcanic Complex"), with an elevation of approximately 4550 meters.
This is the long and deeply incised Rio Totarito valley.
The Quebrada Cerro Bravo ("Mount Bravo Brook") runs through this classic U-shaped valley. The ravine is one of many glaciated features of Los Nevados National Park, where the landscape has been eroded by moving ice, and at present, liquid water.
This is the main summit of the Nevado del Quindío complex, with an elevation of approximately 4760 meters.
The Nevado del Quindío complex has several secondary peaks which have elevations between 4600 and 4700 meters.
