Deutsch: Das ehemalige Kurhotel am Augustabad in Neubrandenburg, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, unmittelbar am Ufer des Tollensesees gelegen. Der nördliche Teil des Nemerower Holzes mit dem Kurhaus Augustabad hatte sich im 19. Jahrhundert zu einem beliebten Ausflugsziel für die Neubrandenburger entwickelt.
Die den Namen gebende Einrichtung für das Bad - das Kurhotel Augustabad, benannt nach der Großherzogin Augusta Caroline von Mecklenburg-Strelitz (1822 - 1916), - ging aus der Initiative einer Aktiengesellschaft hervor, der hauptsächlich Bürger aus Neubrandenburg angehörten. Das Kurhotel wurde im Sommer 1895 in Betrieb genommen. Es galt als "größter Sichtfachwerkbau Norddeutschlands". Der Dichter Theodor Fontane weilte mehrmals im Kurhotel Augustabad - zuletzt 1897, kurz vor seinem Tode 1898. In den 1930ern Jahren wurde der Bau modernisiert und dabei architektonisch stark verändert. Nach jahrelangem Leerstand wurde das ehemalige Kurhotel im Jahre 2005 abgerissen.[1]English: The former Kurhotel Augustabad (health resort / spa hotel) in Neubrandenburg, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany. It's location was right at the banks of the Tollensesee lake. It opened in the summer season of 1895. It was considered the "biggest timber frame building with a visible timber structure" in Northern Germany at the time. The famous poet Theodor Fontane stayed at the hotel several times and liked the area a lot, last in 1897 before his death in 1898.[2] |
