Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Neuadd y Penrhyn - Penrhyn Hall. This hall was presented as a gift to the city by Lord Penrhyn in 1857. During WWII it became home for the light entertainment section of the BBC which had been evacuated from London. It was from here that the famous comedy programme 'ITMA', with comedian Tommy Handley, was broadcast. After the war, it became, in turn, the northern home of Welsh language broadcasting, being replaced only lately by a new studio in Upper Bangor. The Hall is now used as the meeting chamber for the Bangor City Council.
