Description
Nederlands: Een replica van de Maria van Wilsveen, op de gevel van Wilsveen 10b (gemeente Leidschendam-Voorburg, Prov. Zuid-Holland). Het originele beeldje werd begin 16e eeuw opgedregd uit de veenplassen, waarna het gehucht een bedevaartsoord werd. Dat duurde tot eind 17e eeuw. Het originele beeldje bevindt zich thans in het Museum Catharijneconvent te Utrecht.
English: A replica of the "Maria of Wilsveen" attached to a house at Wilsveen, a hamlet in the municipality Leidschendam-Voorburg (prov. South Holland, Netherlands). The original was found in the early 16th century in the peat lakes around the village, after which it came a pilgrimage site until the end of the 17th century (when catholic pilgrimages were forbidden by the protestant regime).
