English: Nether Magask farm. This farm has been known as Nether Magask since at least as long ago as 1746 although the OS maps give the name of the adjacent moorland as 'Magus Muir' and the neighbouring farm is called Upper Magus NO4414. (Perhaps 'Magus' is a place-name change from the original 'Magask' since the family history of the Traills of Blebo includes reference to 'lands of Overmagask' in the 15th century.) |
