d who haspaid particular attentionto the nidification of theAccipitres in that partof the State, has kindlyfavoured me with thefollowing notes:~-Astnrciiicvcus is fairly plenti-fully dispersed in thethick scrub lands in thel^pper Clarence RiverDistrict, and its call isvery much like that oftile King Parrot. Thenest is a large structurefor the size of the bird,it being added to yearafter year if not molested.I have seen a nest aslar.ije as a new one ofthe Wedge-tailed Eagle.It IS often placed onthe large outstandingbranches of the fig trees,and the slippery-barkedbox is also anotherfavourite tree; one nestfound in a Bean-treecontained young birds.I have taken eggs onseveral occasions, andliave never found morethan two in a nest; onone or two occasionsI have found only one,,.,,.. egg for a sitting. The eggs are bluish, devoid of all markings whatever, but after a time they get nest stained, and thenassume a duty brownish colour. The young birds examined were like their parents, white 47

The nest photo.nraphed was found on the 22nd September, 1907, in a small scrub at thehead of a gully running into Wombat Creek, near Copmanhurst. The nest, which contained twoe<,gs, was placed on a horizontal branch of a very large Tallow-wood tree, my rope ladder, aboutone hundred feet long, just reaching the fork from the ground. The tree containing the nestwas at the bottom of a very steep rocky gully, and I placed my camera on a large rock, whichbrought me on a level of about thirty feet or more up the tree ; the parent birds do not go awaywhile being robbed, but fly about from tree to tree. On this occasion the bird came and sat uponthe nest while we were packing away the ladder; how long they sit upon the nest when the eggsare gone, I do not know. Mr. K. 11.
