| Description |
Ness Bank Church, which as its name suggests, sits on the east bank of the river Ness just below Inverness Castle. It was built in 1901 from local Tarradale pink sandstone, to replace a smaller church in the town centre. To cope with the restrcitions of the site, the architect designed it in such a way that the Halls are underneath the church proper. Each Friday afternoon a group of local folk interested in hisotry and architecture go for a photo-walk around the city of Inverness (or its environs) and admire the scenery and buildings. This week we visited Ness Bank Church, and then climed the adjacent brae to Inverness Castle to enjoy the views from the Castle Hill. These are some of the photos I took en route. |
