Description
Deutsch: Der Nerv entspringt im Gehirn (Nucleus paraventricularis hypothalami), verläuft dann innerhalb des Rückenmarks (Funiculus lateralis der Substantia alba, Nucleus intermediolateralis) und tritt hauptsächlich in den ersten 3 Segmenten der Brustwirbelsäule aus dem Wirbelkanal aus. Präganglionäre Fasern ziehen durch das Ganglion cervicothoracicum sive stellatum (im kranialen Mediastinum ventrolateral der Wirbelsäule auf Höhe des ersten Interkostalraums). Okulosympathische Fasern passieren das Ganglion cervicale medium. Der Nerv läuft nun gemeinsam mit der Halsschlagader (Arteria carotis), Nervus vagus und Vena jugularis Richtung Kopf (Truncus vagosympathicus) bis zum Ganglion cervicale craniale, das nah am Mittelohr liegt (Bulla tympanica). Danach gelangen sie als postganglionäre Fasern zusammen mit dem Nervus trigeminus durch die Augenhöhle in das Auge.
