Title |
Neolithic leaf shaped arrowhead |
||
Description |
English: Leaf shaped arrowhead formed on a secondary flake. The percussion waves are still visible on the ventral face suggesting the original striking platform and bulb or percussion were at the point of the arrow and have been removed during the shaping of the arrowhead. There are arisses from previous flake removals on the dorsal face and a small area of cortex at the distal end of the flake (the butt end of the arrowhead). There is scaled semi abrupt short retouch at the point of the arrow on the distal face and the butt has been shaped from both sides to give a short tang. On the ventral face is more invasive scaled retouch, part semi-abrupt, part shallow around the point of the arrow and down the right edge (if the arrow is placed upright). The arrowhead is likely to be Early Neolithic in date. It is 35.52mm long, 20.33mm wide, 4.79mm thick and weighs 3.49 grams. |
