Description
English: Liangzhu Culture, Neolithic Period (3300 - 2200 BCE). Excavated at Yuhang, Zhejiang Province. Nephrite. Enigmatic object : may symbolize "heaven", such disks were ritual objects. Most such disks have been found in elite tombs, and required much skill and patience to produce; this disk's rough shape suggests it was hastily produced for burial purposes. National Museum of China, Beijing
Français : Culture Liangzhu, période néolithique (3 300 à 2 200 av. J-C. Trouvé à Yuhang, province de Zhejiang. Néphrite. Objet énigmatique : peut symboliser les "cieux". De tels disques étaient des objets rituels. La plupart ont été trouvés dans des tombes de personnages importants et ont demandé beaucoup de maîtrise et de patience pour être confectionnés. Celui-ci, à la forme moins élaborée, laisse supposer une fabrication hâtive pour un enterrement. Museum National de Chine, Beijing.
