Neolithic Serrated Implement
Description
English: Grey flint serrated implement. Flake with broad flakes struck from its dorsal side and with ripples on the ventral. The bulb has been flattened by angled retouch executed from the ventral aspect. A serrated edge was formed by very short abrupt retouch along a straight edge, executed from the dorsal aspect. This may have been superseded by subsequent angled retouch executed from the ventral aspect towards the opposite edge, which was followed by very short abrupt retouch also executed from the ventral aspect. This latter episode interrupts a misty patina which had accumulated on other struck surfaces; the Early Neolithic could accommodate all stages of working. Suggested date: Early Neolithic, 4000-3500 BC.
