Neolithic Leaf-Shaped Arrowhead (front and reverse)
Description
English: Flint arrowhead knapped from mottled beige/grey flint. Both faces have negative flake scars, with re-touch along the edges. The arrowhead is a leaf or tear-drop shaped, which is described as a Type 2a by Green (1980 ‘The Flint Arrowheads of the British Isles. A detailed study of the material from England and Wales, with comparanda from Scotland and Ireland’ Oxford: BAR British Series 75 i and ii). The arrowhead measures 24.53mm long and 15.71mm wide. It weighs 1.7g. This shape of arrowhead, dates to the early Neolithic period, 3500 to 2900 B.C.
