Summary
[edit]DescriptionNemrut Mountain Peak.JPG |
English: The artificial, man-made peak of Mount Nemrut (Turkish: "Nemrut Dağı").
The photo was taken shortly before sunset. On the left side of the photo you see the east-facing row of statues. Their heads have been removed and are placed in a row in front of the bodies. Along the side of the pile of stones, which is assumed to be a tomb, there are various decorated stone stelae. On the right side of the pile (opposite to the statues you can see) there's another set of similar statues, also destroyed, facing the west. |
