English: The Swiss answer to the question whether or not being part of the European Community gives Artist Beat Toniolo reason to rebuild the Swiss ensign: in his artwork the white cross consists of the word "no" in the different languages that are spoken in the small country.
Deutsch: Zur Installationsausstellung "Wo – Schweiz – Hin?" hat Beat Toniolo zusammen mit Prof. Dr. Silvio Borner (Ordinarius für angewandte Wirtschaftsforschung der Universität Basel) einen künstlerischen Politauftritt inszeniert. Dabei entstand eines dieser plakativen, symbolistischen und provokanten Kunstwerke: ein Schweizer Kreuz aus lauter NEIN, NON, NO. Sie sollen die Haltung der Schweiz im Dezember 1992 gegenüber der Europafrage aufzeigen: "Mehr als mit vielen Worten brachte Beat Toniolo seine Aussage auf den Punkt; das war genial und optisch wirkungsvoll umgesetzt," so Prof. Silvio Borner.
