Description
English: Near Wigan Top Lock, Leeds and Liverpool Canal This old structure may have housed a steam engine whose purpose was to return lockage water to the top of the flight, because the junction with the Bridgewater Canal is here, and that company would have had anxieties about loss of water down the Wigan flight.
