Description
English: Navy Day was celebrated at Navy House, Goa on 04 December 2021 with Shri Shripad Naik, Minister of State for Tourism and Ports, Shipping and Waterways being the Chief Guest. A large gathering of serving and retired naval personnel, including three former Chiefs of the Naval Staff, as well as civilian dignitaries attended the event. On the occasion, Rear Admiral Philipose G Pynamootil, Flag Officer Commanding Goa Area, apprised the gathering of developments over the past year in Goa Naval Area. He highlighted the services rendered by the Indian Navy in helping the civil administration to restore normalcy after the impact of Cyclone Taukte and administered over 55,000 doses of the COVID vaccination to members of the society. An Operational Demonstration consisting of a flypast by naval aircraft, a high speed run by Fast Interceptor Crafts, and SAR demo by Chetak helicopters was conducted on the occasion. The Beating Retreat Ceremony was also showcased to the guests. The event culminated with a sunset ceremony, screening of a Navy Day telefilm and illumination of naval ships at anchorage.
