Summary

[edit]
Description A U.S. Navy drawing on how the invention of guided missiles would change warfare in 1957. The (mistaken) belief in the capabilities of the new weapons led to aircraft like the McDonnell F-4 Phantom II being introduced without any conventional (gun) armament. Conflicts like the Vietnam War would show that early missiles had a kill ration of less than 10 %.
