Summary
[edit]DescriptionNaval Mine found in the North Atlantic now in Vagur Faroe Islands.JPG |
English: This is an old naval mine, which was found in the North Atlantic Ocean by a Faroese vessel. I don't remember which ship found it. It is now located in Vágur, a village on Suðuroy, Faroe Islands. I don't know about its origin, but when I look at photos on the internet, it looks very similar to an American type of naval mines, which were used in World War I, they are called "Moored contact mine Mk.6" (accrding to the website www.history.navy.mil (US Navy Museum). The Faroe Islands are located in the North Atlantic Ocean between Scotland, Iceland and Norway.
Føroyskt: Henda minan stendur mitt í Vági, tætt við kirkjuna (hinumegin vegin) við Undirhúsið. Eg minnist ikki hvagar henda minan er komin, um tað var eitt skip ið fekk hana í trolið ella um hon rak upp á land. Eg veit heldur ikki hvørjari tíð ella hvørjum landi hon er frá, men við at samanbera myndir á internetinum, so líkist hon mest minum, sum USA brúkti undir Fyrra Heimskríggi, eitt slag av minu sum varð nevnt "Moored contact mine Mk.6". |
