Description
Deutsch: In diesem herrlichen Naturschutzgebiet bei Ragueneau in Québec/Kanada sieht man ausgesprochen gut die Spuren der tonnenschweren Gletscher der letzten Eiszeit, die 4.000 Metern dick waren und die erst vor 10.000 Jahren abschmelzten, bevor sie rund 20.000 Jahre das Tal des Sankt-Lorenz-Stromes überdeckt hatten.

Häufige Gesteine dort sind Gneis und der sehr harte Granit, die teilweise viel Eisen enthalten, deshalb rot gefärbt sind und die aus dem Präkambrium von vor etwa 4 Milliarden Jahren stammen, der heute den kanadischen Schild bildet.

REISE-TIPP: Erreichbar über die Nationalstrasse 138, rund 20 Kilometer nach der Gemeinde Pessamit in nord-östlicher Richtung, nach der Brücke über den Fluss „Rivière aux Rosiers“, etwa bei Kilometer 735 rechts auf ein rotes Schild mit der Aufschrift“ Quai de Ragueneau“ achten!
