Summary
[edit]DescriptionNatural Arch in the Horseshoe - geograph.org.uk - 1460840.jpg |
English: Natural Arch in the Horseshoe. The arch is formed of a lava flow, left in mid-air when softer rocks below it were eroded to form a sea cave which subsequently collapsed. It spans an inlet which leads off the narrow channel round the Horseshoe. At high tide the water reaches the underside of the arch, but at most lower states of the tide it is possible to pass under it in a kayak, and, with care, to land on the cobble beach at the head of the inlet. 1460853 is a closer view. |
