^I TH& BALTINlORLe^ BOOK Steamships which regularly ply between Baltimore and Atlantic Coast ports are fitted for first-class passenger service as well as freight. Commodious steamers leave daily, going north and south, carrying hundreds of passengers and tons of freight. It is estimated that 1 3,000 craft of all character sail between Baltimore and points on Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries. These vessels traverse all navigable waters of Maryland and Virginia, touching at the larger cities and numerous obscure landings. Bay steamers, as a rule, are large and modern, havmg excellent passenger accommodations. The oyster pungy, other small sailing craft and a multitude of power boats carry much of Baltimores Chesapeake Bay commerce.
