t was his high school physics that brought out an interest in #engineering for LaCurtis Banks, who was intrigued at being able to work out electrical problems. Today he's an electrical engineer @NAVFAC, but he says it's not just math and science that gets you ready for a career in engineering - "It really boils down to what your desire and passion is, as well as your work ethic. If you stick to the goals you have set, and you have the urge to continuously learn, engineering is achievable. " A #Huntsville, AL native, Banks earned his bachelor's from Mississippi State University in #electricalengineering. As a federal employee, first with @NorfolkNavalShipyard and later @NAVFACAtlantic, he continued his education and earned his master's degree from Kansas State University, also in the same discipline. He's just one of our world-class electrical engineers tasked with a variety of projects. Banks says he enjoys working on problems that benefit the average person, working to research and come up with clear answers and solutions. Focused on #safetyfirst, his team is currently working on upgrading substation needs to increase capacity. "I get a great deal of gratification seeing a project I've designed come to life and seeing the final product. Knowing that it's in support of the #warfighter, I like that a lot." |
