was now pretty generallyconceded on all hands that I w^as in Sonora. In the TownTalk of October 30th, I read the following: Neb McGowan.—From a gentleman who came passenger on theSenator the last trip, and who has heen residing in Sonora for thelast two or three years, we learn that Judge Ned McGowan is at thepresent time residing in Sonora. Our informant stopped at the samehouse with Ned, while the latter was en route for Sonora, at a placebelow Warners ranch, and, although he has no acquaintance withhim, has no doubt of its being the genuine Ned. In fact it is, hesays, notorious to every one there that he is in Sonora. The Doctor also brought me a kind message and a coupleof bottles of excellent brandy, from my^ood friend, B, F.Johnson, Esq., the well known and popular proprietor ofthe Magnolia Hotel, in Sacramento. I did so, and afterward sawpublished, on the 19th of November, in the DemocraticState Journal^ the following extracts therefrom ; Letter from Ned McGowan.—A day or two ago, a letter wasreceived in this city from the ubiquitous Ned McGowan, of VigilanceCommitte memory. We have been permitted to read it, and weassure the reader that it is a genuine document. Notwithstandingthe letters from Philadelphia, telling us that Ked is rusticating in thatlocality, and other reports that he is dying of the bowel complaint inUtah, Ned is still resident within the bounds of California, wasnever in the enjoyment of better health. It will be seen from theextracts we publish below, that Ned, as usual, is disposed to laugh athis own troubles.
