Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Cyclone Narelle is spinning out to sea west of Western Australia with sustained winds of 115 knots with gusts to 140 knots. Narelle is moving slightly southwestward and will maintain that bearing for the next few days before heading due south and rounding the continent's southwest in 5 days or so. The storm's bands to the southeast are drawing desert sand off land out into the Indian Ocean as shown by some dramatic photos from ships sailing in the Indian Ocean off the west coast of Australia. This image was taken by the NASA/NOAA Suomi NPP satellite's VIIRS instrument around 0540Z on January 11, 2013.
