PEN AmericaEnglish: SEM image of the surface of gallium arsenide with nanostructures looks like an airplane falling in a diamond field. The nanostructures have been synthesized by way of electrochemical deposition in an acid electrolyte. The formation of two crystalline phases may be observed. Diamond-like crystallites are arsenic oxide. Flat structures are gallium oxide. The study of such structures is important for understanding of the processes of self-organization of growth of semiconductor crystals and nanostructures on their surface. 1200 fold magnification. The image width is 200 μm. Image coloration has been performed using Adobe Photoshop. The specific value of the work is that no other image processing, except addition of color, has been performed. The work has been performed within the framework of the project “Nanoart. New Symbolism of Science” in the colors of Russian and Ukrainian flags, it symbolizes the steadfastness of Ukrainian people and their will to victory. In this way, we want to draw the world’s attention to the events that take place in Ukraine. We believe in our victory, but we need the support of the world community. Science must be for peace, not for war. The synthesis of nanostructures was carried out at the Berdyansk State Pedagogical University, the authors are Yana Suchikova (Yana Sychikova) and Serhii Kovachov. At the time of submission of the image for the competition, the city of Berdyansk is under occupation, and the university is captured by the russian invaders. The project is implemented with the support of the Sustainability Fund for Ukrainian Artists of the Artists at Risk Connection program of PEN America |
