Description
English: The Great Bull [Brihadishvara Temple, Thanjavur]. Frontal view of the Great Bull under the Mandapa. 'It deviates in no respect from the usual type. It has but three legs visible… no stone like that of which the bull is made is to be found in the neighbourhood of Tanjore [Thanjavur], so it must have been brought at an incredible expense of labour from a great distance'.
