| Description |
English: Sanam Chandra Palace was built to be a retreat for King Rama VI in 1907-1910 by having Phraya Wisanukam Silpa Prasit (Noi Silapi) be responsible for the construction. The palace is located in Muang district, Nakhon Pathom and is in custody of Silpakorn University.
The complex comprises several throne halls and royal residences named by H.M. King Rama VI which are Pima Pathom Throne Hall, Apiromruedee Throne Hall, Watchareeromya Throne Hall, Samakki Mukkamat Throne Hall, Sriwichai Castle, Ganesh Shrine, Olarn Church, Patiharnthassanai Throne Hall, which are all in applied Thai design. There are also 3 residences which are Thap Kaew Residence, Thap Kwan Residence and Chali Mongkon Asana Residence (where a statue of “Yah Leh” a beloved cross-breed dog of King Rama VI is situated at the front). This residence has a bridge which access to Mali Ratcharat Banlang Residence was designed by H.S.H.Ittithepsun Kritdakorn. |
