English: The last Rufe in service was recovered by French forces in Indochina after World War II. In 1945, the French of the 8S squadron based at Cát Lái, on a branch of the Saigon River, successfully used several seaplanes including 10 Aichi E13A1 “Jake” captured from the Japanese. A single Rufe was also tried, but it was a failure: restored to flying condition, the seaplane took off on September 19, 1946 for a fuel consumption test, piloted by Lieutenant Raymond Hostalier, 26 years old. After several passes over the Jules Verne which was slowly going up the river, the seaplane hit the water. The pilot was killed instantly. The condition of the aircraft, floats and sails torn off, does not make it possible to determine the causes of the accident.
