Title
Nail cleaner
Description
English: An incomplete copper-alloy probable Roman nail cleaner. Measuring 25.4mm in surviving length and 6.3mm in width at its widest point, both terminals are incomplete due to old breaks, now worn. This probable nail cleaner is flat and has an incomplete circular suspension loop on the same plane as the shaft, this loop measures 6.3mm in external diameter and 3.5mm in internal diameter. The shaft is then waisted before flaring into sloping shoulders. It tapers towards its missing terminal.

Nail cleaners which are flat with loops on the same plane as their shafts have been found at Colchester and dated to the mid to late 1st century in date (Crummy 1983, 57-58, fig 62, no 1869), it is likely that this probable nail cleaner is of a similar date.
