Summary

[edit]
Description

Template for making Nebraska state recreation road markers, made to the specifications of the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD), 2009 Edition (sign M1-5). Uses the Roadgeek 2005 fonts. (United States law does not permit the copyrighting of typeface designs, and the fonts are meant to be copies of a U.S. Government-produced work anyway.) This image is a template for producing additional shields and is not to be used as an image. To create a shield using this template:

  1. Download this SVG.
  2. Open the SVG in an SVG editor and change the numbering.
  3. Convert the text to a path and save as a basic SVG.
  4. Upload the new SVG to Wikimedia Commons in the format "N-XY.svg", where X is the route number and Y is the suffix.

[edit]
Public domain This file is in the public domain because it comes from the State of Nebraska Supplement to the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices, sign number M1-8, which states on p. ii that "this manual consists of the 2009 edition of the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices for Streets and Highways (herein referred to as the MUTCD) adopted by the Federal Highway Administrator as a National Standard for application on all classes of highways, subject to such modifications as is set forth in this supplement." The federal MUTCD states specifically on its page I-1 that:
Any traffic control device design or application provision contained in this Manual shall be considered to be in the public domain. Traffic control devices contained in this Manual shall not be protected by a patent, trademark, or copyright, except for the Interstate Shield and any other items owned by FHWA.

No provisions of the supplement modify this provision of the MUTCD.
