Norsk bokmål: Rumbur Valley, Chitral, NWFP, Pakistan
Mannsdans på danseplassen (gri) nedenfor Grom. Her ser man både gutter, kvinner og menn.

Spring festival's (Joshi) second day, Chirpik (Milk-drinking). Mens" dance on the dancing ground (gri) below Grom. Here are both boys, women and men present. The men form a ring while dancing to the beat of the drums (not seen in the picture). The women, to the right, are probably on their way up to the spectators" group by the old Jestak-han (Goddess Jestak's temple, Jeshtak, the deity of the hearth and family). The building farthest in the background is the new Jestak-han where she is worshipped in a roofed temple (han) in which she is represented by a carved wooden plank hung up on the wall. Jestak-han is the only Kalash temple with a roof and where women are admitted. |
