Description
English: MARINE CORPS AIR STATION IWAKUNI, Japan (Jan. 6, 2025) — Equipment Operator 2nd Class Gabriel Eller, project crew leader, briefs Cmdr. Travis Brinkman, commanding officer of Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 3 (NMCB-3), on the MCAS Iwakuni Cap and Close Landfill project. The project involves capping a 13-acre landfill by excavating and relocating waste, installing an interim cover system, constructing temporary stormwater and erosion control features, and maintaining clearing and grubbing operations to reduce bird-aircraft strike hazards. NMCB-3 serves as the engineering force for Commander, U.S. 7th Fleet, executing high-quality construction operations and supporting major combat operations in the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command area of responsibility.
