Description
English: Spanish social scientist and author Ximena de la Barra was born in Chile and is a trained architect. She was part of the Chilean socialist experiment of the early 1970s and was appointed delegate to UNCTAD III on behalf of the Salvador Allende government. After the 1973 military coup, she was forced into exile to Spain where she acquired dual citizenship. For a time, she lived in New York and was a visiting professor of urban and social policy planning at Columbia University.
