Title
NCL-533474: Early Medieval buckle
Description
English: A cast copper-alloy buckle of probable late Saxon date, c. 800-1000.

The buckle is incomplete, missing its pin. The frame is D-shaped, with a swollen outer frame that tapers to the crossbar. It has an even patina, and while there has been some corrosion, the buckle was never decorated with zoomorphic terminals. In all other aspects, however, the buckle is the same as zoomorphic buckles of the late Saxon period.
