Description

PEARL HARBOR - NAVFAC Commander Rear Adm. Kate Gregory, center, met with NAVFAC Pacific and NAVFAC Hawaii's upcoming leaders March 13 at NAVFAC Pacific headquarters. NAVFAC continues to groom the new leaders of the organization through the Leadership Development Program, Emerging Leader Program and the Employee Development Program. The Leadership Development Program (LDP) is a two-year program which begins with a LDP Indoctrination, then encompasses eight training courses such as NEI I, II and III, Capitol Hill Workshop, supervisory, team building and presentation classes. The Emerging Leader Program (ELP) is a one-year career enhancement program for NAVFAC Pacific employees. The goal of the ELP is to expose participants to seasoned managers and leaders, and to provide opportunities to learn, practice, grow and improve communication skills through mentorship, training and interaction. Participants also sharpen their skills in organizing, preparing and presenting formal briefs, critical thinking, problem solving, management decision making and understanding the missions and requirements of NAVFAC organization and it's Supported Commands. This program encompasses training courses such as NEI I, II or III, supervisory, team building and presentation classes. Interviewing a BLM/SLM. Doing a one-week rotation to a NAVFAC or Support Command. Attending a FEC and a Supported Command tour. The Employee Development Program (EDP) is a one-year, career enhancement program for NAVFAC Hawaii employees who desire training and developmental experience to broaden their understanding of other functions at NAVFAC Hawaii and gain an understanding of roles and responsibilities as supervisors and leaders. Training includes briefings on the overall mission and organization of NAVFAC Hawsaii as well as the function of the BLs/SLs/FAs. Instruction is conducted via class lessons, personal reading, shadowing supervisors, and one-on-one mentorship.
