Description
English: An incomplete copper alloy Nail Cleaner of Roman date (AD 50-150). The blade of the object is 'leaf' shaped, widening just below the shoulders then narrowing to the tip. The blade is flat, and slightly curved in profile. Both sides of the blade are decorated with a repeating punched dot motif running around the edge. The neck and tip of cleaner narrow and terminate in old and abraded breaks. A small portion of the circular loop above the neck is retained. The neck is collard and retains a repeating transverse incised lines along the outer edge.


The object is dark green in colour with a heavily pitted and corroded patina.


Length: 48.69mm, Width: 12.62mm, Thickness: 2.46mm, Weight: 3.8g.
