Description
English: An incomplete copper-alloy Fob Seal of Post-Medieval date (AD 1700 -1800). The frame is flat with an arch into which the matrix fits. The terminal of the arch is perforated for a rod to pass through on which the matrix swivels. The handle extends from the apex of the arch with scroll-like elements flanking a roundel topped stem. Both sides of the frame have moulded ropework. The seal matrix comprises a double-sided flat dark brown glass oval swivelling bezel held in situ. One face of the seal depicts a lion rampant right, the other face is chipped and the motif is no longer visible.

The metal is mid-brown in colour with a pitted patina.
