English:

A bent copper alloy Roman nail cleaner with moulded neck and shouldered blade of Eckardt and Crummy 2008, 20, fig.59 and Crummy 1983, Type 2a,dating from the 1st to 2nd century AD. The suspension loop is round and has a decorative moulded neck with a flattened globular bead with transverse incised bands which is flanked by a pair of waisted reels.The cleaner is leaf shaped and gently tapers from shoulders to the tip, which would have ended in a pair of prongs, however these have been lost. There is a longitudinal groove running up from between the prongs to the centre of the nail cleaner on one side.
