Summary
[edit]DescriptionN90703 DC-6 LAVCO Libyan Avn Co TIP 09MAR69 (5574951895).jpg |
English: Taken at Tripoli, Libya (TIP). A rare one even in 1969, Line No:6, this first flew in Nov-46 as NX90703 and was delivered to American Airlines as N90703 later the same month. It served with American until Oct-60 when it was sold to Field Aircraft Services in the UK as G-ARFU. Sold on to Air Jordan two months later it became JY-ACF for 10 months and was then sold to the US Foreign Air Transport Development Dept and became N90703 again. It was leased to International Airlines in Aug-62 and then sold to the Diamond Leasing Corporation in Oct-64. The lease to International Airlines continued and it was sub-leased to the Libyan Aviation Company (LAVCO) in late 1966 and used to transport oil workers from Tripoli (TIP) out to the desert oil rigs until Jul-70 when it was returned to Diamond Leasing. It was stored at Malta (MLA) and was finally broken up circa 1980. |
