Description
English: First flown at the end of Jun-59, N801PA was No:6 off the line and participated in the DC-8 test programme performing over 100 test flights. It was delivered to Pan-American World Airways in Apr-61. In Sep-69 it was sold to Delta Air Lines as N8016. Delta only kept it for 5 years and sold it to a leasing company in Jan-74. It was stored until Aug-74 when it was leased to Ranger Air Cargo, returning to the lessor in Mar-76 when it was wet-leased to Ghana Airways until Oct-76. It was wet-leased to Ranger Air Cargo again between Nov-76 & Oct-77 when it was wet-leased to Loftleidir for 2 months, returning in Dec-77. It was leased to Intercontinental Airways in Apr-78 and in Nov-78 they decided to buy it. It was leased to ONA Overseas National Airways in May-79 and they wet-leased it to Saudi Arabian Airlines between Jul-79 and Mar-80. It was returned to Intercontinental in Jan-81. N8016 was retired at Laurinburg, NC, USA in Aug-81 and left to decay until it was broken up in Jan-88.
