Description The Canyon Section is the most naturalistic section of the garden. Plant identification markers are few and it gives the illusion of being untended. Such is not the case. The trees are a dead giveaway. Historic photos of the East Bay show that this area was grassland broken by mixed oak woodland. Most of the trees were planted under the supervision of James Roof, the first Director of the Regional Parks Botanic Garden. The garden ends a few steps past this bridge. The fence across Wildcat Creek is just visible in the photo. Photographed at Regional Parks Botanic Garden near Berkeley, CA.
