Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Mystery jelly, Woodburn. What I initially thought was a slime mould is probably frogspawn, left behind when a female frog has been eaten by a predator. My thanks to Lairich Rig https://www.geograph.org.uk/profile/22713 who writes that:

"Before the frogspawn is produced, the jelly is stored internally, separately from the black mass of eggs. If the frog is eaten, the eggs are also sometimes eaten soon afterwards, leaving just isolated blobs of jelly."

The jelly was found on wet grass very close to a reservoir at Woodburn.
