Field Trip - Home Wood - 23/07/19 I joined Matt, Lionel and Louie to Home Wood back on the 23rd of July. It's been a hectic few weeks keeping up with the garden totals, let alone two more trips out since this one. The day had been warm and muggy, and with the threat of rain we still went ahead. All setup and sweating like a pig, we waited....not long, it was manic pretty much instantly and the traps were covered in micros of varying species. At about 1:45pm I got a txt from my wife saying that it was incredibly stormy and wet.. we could hear it in the distance, it was coming straight for us and the wind started to pick up. Luckily we were already in the process of packing up, and had 2 traps left and we frantically checked what we could, but we were running out of time. The car was full of moths the next morning and I added a further 6 species from the roof lining of the car! I probably missed loads as we were rushing to pack away! As always, there are several micro-moths pending including a few possible new species for me. Acrocercops brongniardella was a new moth for me, and if Carpatolechia decorella and Endothenis ustulana get the ok, they will new for me aswell. Here is the total list.
